An accusation often levelled at Arsenal is that they don’t take some of the smaller sides as seriously as they ought.

Seeming to turn up and expect the points to be in the bag, the Gunners travelled to Watford and for 60 minutes it felt as if It could well be ‘one of those days’ which saw them lose 1-0.

Thankfully, goals from Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott meant that Arsenal left with all the points and second place in the bag and Petr Cech, speaking to the media after the game, hinted that the points from this weekend were just as important as the ones claimed against United before the international break.

“It is always difficult going away for the internationals and you come back home and everyone comes back at different times. You have only one day to prepare and you play away from home against a good team that was very solid at home in their previous games,” he said.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game, so we needed to be patient.”

“We had a really big game against Manchester United last week before the internationals, so when you win those games (you have to) win another game.

“We treat everybody with the same respect, so the three points are vital for us.”

Cech will no doubt be under the spotlight in the lead up to the game against Bayern Munich as the Champions League goalkeeper debate looks set to kick off once again.

Fun times.
