Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Čech had a pretty quiet evening at Vicarage Road, but was delighted to come away with all three points.

The Gunners also won their previous Premier League game – against Manchester United – by three goals but had to wait two weeks for another club game as the players went their separate ways on international duty.

“It is always difficult going away for the internationals and you come back home and everyone comes back at different times,” Čech said after the match.

The goalkeeper made a good save in the first half to deny Watford captain Tory Deeney his first Premier League goal. He also came rushing out of his box (nearly taking Per Mertesacker’s head off in the process) towards the end of the half, but his evening was easy as soon as Arsenal clicked into gear.

“You have only one day to prepare and you play away from home against a good team that was very solid at home in their previous games. We knew it was going to be a difficult game. We needed to be patient to score the first goal.”

The first goal came just after an hour and was swiftly followed by two more. If Arsenal can get into the habit of killing teams off when they’re vulnerable, things will be much easier.

That said, nothing will be easy on Tuesday night with Bayern Munich visiting the Emirates Stadium. With a huge Champions League clash on the way, it comes as a relief that our Premier League form is in order.

“We had a really big game against Manchester United last week before the internationals, so when you win those games [you have to] win another game. We treat everybody with the same respect so the three points are vital for us.”

Now would be a mighty fine time to go on a run Arsenal, I dare you to do it.
