On Sunday Petr Cech will face Manchester United for the first time as an Arsenal player and, as a result, has to deal with the prolific Anthony Martial.

Cech had high praise for the striker ahead of the Premier League clash, applauding the 19-year-old’s strong start.

“It’s always difficult when you change clubs and come to a big club with a lot of expectation,” he said. “Everybody wants to see what you are made of but he had a fantastic start to his United career.

“Maybe the enthusiasm and excitement of moving to the Premier League helps at the start, but then people start expecting things from you and every day they keep reminding you that you are the main goalscorer. It was obviously a dream start for him and we have to make sure that doesn’t continue on Sunday.”

However, the goalkeeper insists he’s ready for the challenge and has been watching Martial’s performances closely to get an idea of just what he’s going to be up against.

“I like to watch the players playing against me to have that idea pre-game – then you can adapt because the game keeps changing every minute,” Cech revealed.

“It’s always good to have an idea of what can happen and the main things that are repeating in your opponents’ game. If you want to organise the people in front of you, this information is the main thing for a goalkeeper to have.”

Martial has scored four goals in six appearances for the Red Devils, making him incredibly deadly and probably our main concern going into the match.

After losing at home 2-1 to United last season, the team should be looking to restore the balance, despite us also beating them by the same score at Old Trafford in the FA Cup.

If anyone is capable of dealing with the United goal threat, it’s Cech. Hopefully the rest of the team are too.
