The Telegraph recently posted their top 10 most effective players in Europe at the moment and Santi Cazorla is one of them.

The midfield maestro has made a staggering 413 key passes in the opponent’s half just this season, which is huge.

Everyone knows by now that the midfielder is an instrumental part of our attack but when statistics like this emerge, it puts it into perspective – our pint-sized Spaniard is immense.

Other footballers in the top 10 are West Ham’s Dimitri Payet, who’s created 33 chances this season; Norwich’s Seb Bassong, who’s made 77 clearances; and, perhaps surprisingly, Bournemouth’s Calum Wilson, whose conversation rate is the best 87.5%.

It just goes to show, especially for the likes of Payet, Bassong and Wilson, that you don’t have to play for a ‘huge’ team in order to have your talent recognised. If you apply yourself on the pitch and help your team in some way, you’re useful.

Of course, when it comes to Santi, we always knew he was the best anyway.
