Santi Cazorla doesn’t seem to get older, he just gets better, and his performance against Man United on Sunday was one of his best.

After the match, the midfielder spoke about how well Arsenal played.

“It was very important for us today,” he said. “Together we played very well. Three points is very important for us and we need to keep at the same level in the next game.

“They have very good players with Carrick, Mata and Rooney. We need to play together and in the first half we did very well and this is vital for us.”

Arsenal scored three goals in 20 minutes against the Red Devils – the first time this has ever happened to them in the Premier League. The win was not only huge in terms of the league, as it puts us up to second place just behind City, but also in terms of bouncing back after a disappointing midweek defeat.

“We needed to believe after the loss against Olympiacos,” said Santi. “We needed to change the mentality and today the team was very compact and focused for the game against a big team. This is the most important thing for the team.”

Our 3-2 loss to Olympiacos wasn’t just embarrassing, it was worrying. Everyone was looking ahead to the clash against United with baited breath, thinking we might well be in for another drubbing.

The fact that it was the opposite, as Santi said, was the best medicine for us at this time. The only issue is that he didn’t score in the match, despite having at least one clear-cut chance. Regardless, our little Spaniard was still a class act.
