Arsenal have had three players called up to represent the senior England side during the next international break.

Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott have all been called up by Roy Hodgson for games against Estonia and Lithuania in October.

Walcott has bagged four goals this season after being played up front by Arsène Wenger and will hope to be given the same opportunity by his country. His current tally of seven England goals is nowhere near as high as it should be, but these fixtures will provide him a good chance to prove his worth.

With Leighton Baines and Luke Shaw out, Gibbs has an excellent opportunity to add to his eight England caps. Ryan Bertrand is his competition at left-back, but the Arsenal man could get the nod to start both games. Shaw could miss next summer’s European Championships and Baines is yet to play this season – Gibbs really could prove himself worthy of his place ahead of the tournament in France next summer.

The England u21 squad sees Calum Chambers and Chuba Akpom called up. Chambers is a key member of Gareth Southgate’s side, and Akpom (on loan at Hull City) will be hoping for his first cap at that level. It’s his second call-up but he pulled out of the squad through injury in September.

We wish all the best to Arsenal players representing their countries over the next couple of weeks, and hope they return in good form as well as injury free.
