You really do have to feel sorry for Yaya Sanogo.

A player with Arsenal DNA so strong that it seems he can barely look at a football without getting injured.

Despite featuring for Ajax at the weekend from the bench against FC Twente, he was sent out with the reserves on Monday where he promptly picked up a ‘slight groin injury’ – well, perhaps not that promptly, but by halftime he was unable to continue and had to be subbed off.

Sanogo has played just 47 minutes for the senior team in the Eredivisie since he joined on loan in the summer but has totalled 211 minutes for their reserves, something I’m sure he could have managed with Arsenal’s u21s had he remained in London.

He has one assist in his 47 minutes of senior action.

Ajax’s reserves won the game against Telstar 4-1 – their first win in almost exactly six months.
