According to the Daily Mail Jack Wilshere’s injury setback will leave the England midfielder out of action for another month.

The Arsenal man has had a terrible record with injuries but almost came through pre-season looking very strong ahead of the new campaign. However, an impact injury suffered in training the day before the Community Shield left him out of the Wembley clash.

Manager Arsène Wenger said the knock would see Wilshere missing for just a matter of days before further tests revealed he had suffered a hairline fracture to his leg.

As Wilshere has recovered Arsenal have continued to move the goalposts on his return. He was, at one point, ruled out until October before Arsène Wenger recently expressed some more optimistic expectations.

“Maybe one week after the international break he will certainly come back into full training,” the Arsenal boss said as we approached the end of August.

Wilshere is no closer to training following the international break having suffered a setback, and the Daily Mail now report he will miss October’s international fixtures as well.

“I have not seen Jack Wilshere in the last two or three days,” Wenger said on Thursday. “He is progressing slowly and I can’t tell you much more about it.

“It is slower than expected as I expected him to be back and available after the international break, but unfortunately he will not be available for Saturday. He had a little setback.”

Progressing slowly and suffering a setback is bad indeed. With a fairly thin squad and Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky both sidelined for the significant future, Arsenal could do with Wilshere returning as soon as possible.

Midweek fixtures begin again with the Champions League and League Cup starting, and Arsenal may soon find the squad stretched.
