In the wake of comments Arsene Wenger made regarding how getting booed is part of the job, the boss has now backed Olivier Giroud to get 20 goals this season without any problem.

Ahead of our clash against Stoke on Saturday, Wenger stood behind Arsenal’s current strike force, insisting that they’re all more than capable of delivering this season.

On whether Theo Walcott, Giroud and Alexis Sanchez can be as good as some of the Arsenal greats, he said, “Why not? I think Giroud, Walcott, Sanchez can get around 20 goals without any problem.

“Sometimes you have to trust your players and play them. Then they get there.

“People want always the absolute certainty that they will be absolutely successful. It is not like that.”

Giroud has had a tough month. The striker hasn’t been on his best form for Arsenal and had a bad match for France while away on national duty. However, saying that, the 28-year-old scored a stunner against Crystal Palace, so if that’s bad form, I can’t wait until he really gets going again.

What’s important is that the fans and manager continue to support Giroud. We’re not going to boo him off the pitch, we’re just going to keep singing his song loud and proud so he knows he’s got everyone behind him.
