Arsène Wenger had previously said that Jack Wilshere would be available after the international break, but Thursday’s press conference revealed the midfielder has suffered a setback.

It’s pretty common for Arsenal players to have setbacks when returning from injury, and something that Wilshere in particular is well versed in, but that won’t make it any less frustrating.

Wilshere actually came through pre-season without an issue this season before taking a knock in training which turned out to be a hairline fracture. Arsenal said he would miss days before further tests revealed the extent of the injury and the club said he was due back in October.

Just two weeks ago Wenger said Wilshere would return to full training after the international break but the midfielder is nowhere to be seen ahead of Saturday’s game against Stoke City.

Well, this stuff never gets old. Another ankle injury, another setback. Jack Wilshere has definitely had this season before.

With no new estimated return date we can’t even speculate about Wilshere’s wellbeing. We’ll just have to hope he makes a speedy recovery and is available for Arsène Wenger to select as soon as possible.
