Despite Olivier Giroud being in a run of bad form at the moment, the striker scored his third Premier League goal of the season against Leicester City on Saturday.

The 28-year-old was recently booed off after a sub-par performance for France. However, fortunately our own fans have been nothing but supportive of the Frenchman and this paid off against the Foxes when he scored in the final 10 minutes.

Giroud also seemed to recognise this support in his celebration.

Speaking after the match, Wenger confirmed that Giroud is looking particularly sharp in training and that he’s fully behind the forward.

“I am pleased with [the strikers’] games,” he said. “Giroud is sharp in training and in the matches as well, I think he played well at Tottenham.”

The boss also hailed the performances of Walcott and Alexis, who also both scored during the match.

“Walcott is improving game after game, he holds the ball better up front, his movement is great and both of them scored, which is what you want,” Wenger added.

“I believe [Alexis] wasn’t back to his best after the Copa America, it took him a while to get his competitive edge and now he has played well again and he is back to his level.”

About the display itself, Wenger reiterated that the performance was hugely positive and we showed our ability to come back from being 1-0 to win 5-2.

“Certainly it was the most convincing [display of the season] going forward, yes,” he said. “It was a tricky game because Leicester hadn’t lost, and I was a bit concerned because we did not want to lose ground on the other teams – so it was a big win for us.”

Arsenal face Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday and after that, we’ve got the big match against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
