Arsenal will be donating £1 from every ticket sold for Saturday’s home game against Stoke City to Save the Children’s Child Refugee Crisis Appeal.

The club announced the decision on Thursday and, with Save the Children the club’s official worldwide charity partner, are happy to continue aiding what is a desperate situation.

“The need is immediate so we decided to be immediately helpful,” Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has said to Arsenal.com.

The club have raised almost £400,000 for Save the Children thanks to charity events over the past few years and are taking their role in the wider community very seriously, looking to provide aid to those who need it most.

“You know that we are always involved with a helpful attitude,” said Wenger. “We have our own foundations and charity and this is a special case where people are in the need of special help.

“It’s an exceptional circumstance and I’m very happy that our club contributes to help refugees to settle in countries where they come without anything. We’ll give £1 for every ticket sold [against Stoke] and if everyone can contribute like we do then I think we can give very, very strong help.”

It won’t be the only way that the club contributes this weekend, with other charity events taking place at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal entertain Stoke City on Saturday. Save the Children CEO Justin Forsyth will also be at the game.

Later in September Arsenal have, along with every other Champions League and Europa League club, agreed to donate €1 from every Emirates Stadium ticket sold for a Champions League game to the cause, a fantastic gesture suggested by the president of FC Porto.

It’s brilliant to see football clubs acting so seriously and responsibly with people in need of any help they can get right now, and well done to Arsenal for their effort.
