Arsène Wenger sat down in front of the press on Thursday morning to preview Saturday’s visit of Stoke City.

Among other things, the manager defended striker Olivier Giroud after he was booed off by France fans in midweek and explained why the club didn’t manage to sign a striker.

There were injury updates on Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere, who are both out of Saturday’s game, and the announcement that the club will donate £1 from every ticket sold for the game to Save the Children and their operation to help children involved in the refugee crisis.

The boss also played down a so-called rivalry with Stoke but, hmm, I’ll let you decide for yourselves whether or not he meant what he said.
