As ever, Arsenal will be making changes for the third round of the League Cup.

With a squad full of experienced players we will see some rotation, but Arsène Wenger has told Arsenal.com not to expect widespread changes and half a youth team.

Francis Coquelin picked up an injury in Saturday’s loss to Chelsea and is out, despite reports that he would be back.

Arsène Wenger confirmed that Per Mertesacker would be back in the squad, which is much needed as Gabriel is banned after his red card at the weekend.

Young midfielder Alex Iwobi may be afforded an opportunity, after the manager had this to say:

“I want to keep the squad together. We go game by game so I will make changes, for sure. How many? I’ve not decided yet. It will be quite an experienced squad with one or two younger players.

“(Iwobi) is in and out a little bit because we travel a lot. He is doing well.”

The youngster impressed during pre-season and scored against Lyon at the Emirates Cup, before taking a place on the bench in the Community Shield defeat over Chelsea. Now he may get his chance in a competitive fixture.
