Arsenal defender Gabriel was sent off on Saturday, and is expected to miss Wednesday night’s trip to White Hart Lane as a result.

The red card against Chelsea, given for violent conduct, came with a three game ban which Arsenal have appealed against in the hope of having the ban reduced due to the amount of force actually exerted, which was minimal.

Should the FA rule that Gabriel’s red card was wrongly given he would even be available to play against Spurs in Wednesday’s third round League Cup clash.

There are no huge concerns should Gabriel miss out, with Per Mertesacker ready to return to the side after over a month out with a serious chest infection.

On Monday, Gabriel received a further charge from the FA and could see his ban extended after his reaction to being sent off. It’s highly unlikely that he’ll be available to play in the north London derby, but not impossible.

We should find out more late on Tuesday afternoon.
