Jack Wilshere is waiting to learn if he will need to undergo surgery on the ankle fracture he picked up in training according to reports.

With Arsene Wenger already confirming that the midfielder has suffered a set-back and will miss the initial return date given, the news that he could need a metal plate inserted in his leg is more than a little concerning.

As the injury takes longer to heal than expected, Wilshere will see a specialist with surgery a very real possibility, leading to an additional six weeks out of the side at least.

Of course, at this point, there is nothing concrete to say that he certainly will need surgery but given both Jack’s and Arsenal’s luck with injuries, you certainly wouldn’t rule it out.

He is expected to find out in the next two weeks if he will have to undergo surgery.
