Alex Scott has her sights firmly trained on Chelsea after defeating Liverpool in the WSL, but with only two games left to play in the league, the right-back knows that it won’t be easy.

Chelsea currently sit on top of the table, some five points ahead of Arsenal with only six points left to play for and realistically the best the Gunners can hope for it to reclaim a Champions League place with the runners-up spot.

Scott, however, is refusing to give up on the title just yet.

“We’ve worked hard in training all week so to get the three points [against Liverpool] was good for us,” Scott told Arsenal.com.

“We felt we were totally in control during that first half and it was all about getting that first goal. Even after missing the penalty we kept pushing and pushing.

“We’re still in contention for the league and even though it’s not in our hands we’re going to still keep pushing on.

“There are two games to go and anything can happen. Teams have been taking points off each other so if we keep doing our job we’re hoping someone else can slip up.”

Arsenal still suffer by virtue of the fact that they are competing against sides that are full time (such as Liverpool and Man City) however since Pedro Losa took over from Shelly Kerr, the ladies have shown signs of regaining at least some of the form which saw them dominate the women’s game.

Sadly, however, unless they make the leap to full time as well, they may not ever be in a position to dominate in such a fashion again.

Next up for Arsenal ladies is a game against City at Meadow Park on Sunday.
