Aaron Ramsey has praised Alexis Sanchez’s performance against Leicester City in which he netted his first hat-trick for Arsenal, but has admitted that he finds his own lack of goals so far this season frustrating.

The midfielder has found it hard to score this season, especially compared to previous years where he was banging them in for fun. However, his contribution to the squad as a whole is still huge and he’s an instrumental part of our first team.

Speaking about Alexis’ hat-trick in the Premier League against Leicester, Rambo said, “It’s nice to see him scoring again. You could see his frustration before that and how much he wanted to score.

“It wasn’t just him. There are a few other players – myself included – who are a bit frustrated not to get a goal, but I’m delighted for him that he’s finally got off the mark.”

The midfielder continued, “As soon as the first one goes in two more fly in straight away,” he said. “Hopefully now he’s in a good place where he can just go from strength to strength.

“Hopefully I can be there soon as well. I don’t know how long it’s been since my last goal, I just know I haven’t got off the mark yet this season which I’m disappointed with.”

Rambo is aiming to get his first goal of the season against Olympiacos on Tuesday night at the Emirates.

“You get frustrated and then all of a sudden a few games down the line one comes and the next thing you know you’re scoring on a regular basis again,” Ramsey said.

“Obviously Olympiakos in the Champions’ League would be a nice time to do it. I didn’t play in our first game but it would be nice to get off the mark in the group with a win and a few goals hopefully.”

Our players tend to put a lot of unnecessary pressure on themselves and to an extent this can be a good thing. However, Ramsey is not a striker and he’s still doing his job in midfield. If he just relaxes and focuses on his game, the goals will come in no time.
