The Premier League have taken a goal away from Eden Hazard and awarded his effort against Arsenal as a Calum Chambers own goal.

Chambers, who scored another own goal at White Hart Lane in Arsenal’s 2-1 win on Wednesday, was helpless as Hazard’s effort deflected in off him from close range in Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat of the Gunners on Saturday.

No doubt José Mourinho will somehow spin this to aid his ‘campaign against Chelsea’ motion.

The Arsenal defender could have done better with the effort he turned past David Ospina on Wednesday night, but the goal at Chelsea wasn’t his fault in the slightest.

Chambers played very well in both games, regaining his composure after a shaky performance against Liverpool saw him widely criticised in September. Then England international is still just 20 years old and clearly has huge potential but needs games.

With Laurent Koscielny, Gabriel and Per Mertesacker in the squad minutes on the pitch could be hard to come by, but Arsenal definitely have a number of strong options at the back now.
