Brazilian footballing legend Pele has admitted that if he had to choose between Arsenal and Chelsea to play at, he’d pick the Gunners.

The footballer, who played for Santos for 18 years, spoke recently about his admiration for the way Arsenal play, pointing out how it’s rare to see.

When asked whether he’d prefer to play for Arsenal or Chelsea, the answer was clear.

“Arsenal is a good team to play for,” the attacker said.

“I like the teams that play open football. Today it is difficult to decide which teams play that way.

“Between Chelsea and Arsenal? I would play for Arsenal if I had the chance.”

Of course, when Pele was actually around playing football, Arsenal’s style was very different from what we play today. However, it’s still a huge compliment regardless.

Pele scored 619 goals in 638 appearances for Santos and has gone down as one of the best footballers in history, although of course this is open to debate.

He finished his career at New York Cosmos in 1977 after a two-year spell there. Even there, he scored 31 goals in 56 games.

Pele also won the World Cup three times with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
