Mesut Ozil has taken to Facebook to defend Arsenal after the Gunners fell to their second defeat in a row.

Losing at Olympiacos in the Champions League to start of what was an awful week, Arsenal can feel more than a little hard done by with how things went against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Until Gabriel’s red card, Arsene Wenger’s side were more than a match for the current champions, but his dismissal changed the dynamic of the game and the timing allowed Jose Mourinho to instruct his players at half-time in ways they could take advantage of their extra two men (Dean included).

“Sometimes things don’t turn out the way you’d hoped or expected,” Ozil said.

“The last two matches don’t reflect where we are standing as a team. We will focus on our practice even more now and prepare for the next big games! The season is still young…”

Next up for Arsenal is yet another away game with a trip to White Hart Lane for a Capital One Cup that means nothing if you lose and everything if you win.

With so many youngsters out on loan, Wenger is expected to field a relatively experienced team and Per Mertesacker should be back in contention after finally recovering from the virus that has kept him side-lined recently.
