Mesut Ozil believes winning against Bayern Munich in the Champions League will be a huge indicator of how far we’ve come as a team and could even help him win Ballon d’Or.

The playmaker isn’t just content with two FA Cups – he wants to win the league and to really compete with Europe’s elite.

The midfielder also touched on the possibility of one day winning the Ballon d’Or – one of the biggest individual achievements in the world of football. However, he realises that before personal glory comes serious trophies.

“You need to win major titles with both club and country,” Ozil said.

“In 2016, the chances are there to do just that. We’ve got a great team at Arsenal, which can win titles.

“After two FA Cup victories in the past two years, we want to be in the mix for the Premier League title. We also need to beat the knockout stages curse in Champions League.

“The group stage clashes with Bayern Munich are a real benchmark test. And I want to win the European Championships with Germany.”

Ozil winning Ballon d’Or would be huge but with some of the best players in the world not backing down without a fight, the German will face stiff competition.

At least the midfielder knows what he needs to work on and how to get there. The man is only 26-years-old with many great years ahead of him so there’s plenty of time to hone his skill and become an even more incredible player.

“I have to become more dangerous in front of the goal. I was injured for long spells last season, and scored only five in 32 competitive games,” Ozil added.

“I want to improve this. To achieve it, I have to be a bit more egotistical”

Until then, Ozil just has to continued what he’s been doing: being amazing.
