Jordan Nobbs is still hopeful that Arsenal can pip Chelsea to the FAWSL title despite it all being out of the Gunner’s hands.

Arsenal defeated Sunderland 3-1 on Saturday in their penultimate league game but know that should Chelsea win their game in hand they will be crowned Champions, demonstrating once again the gap created by going full-time, a move Arsenal have yet to adopt.

Speaking after the win against the Black Cats, Nobbs said “Of course we can still win this title. You look at what happened last season where Liverpool were third and ended up winning it, so nothing’s impossible.

“We’re just going to do whatever we can to get as many points and as many goals as we can – never say die until the final whistle goes.”

Arsenal took the lead against Sunderland through Chioma Ubogagu but were pegged back just five minutes later when on-fire forward Beth Mead rounded the Arsenal keeper.

The second half, however, saw Arsenal take the lead and then extend it thanks to a second from Ubogagu and a third from Natalia Pablos Sanchon.

“There is not much Chi hits that doesn’t go in,” Nobbs said of her teammate after her double.

“I don’t know what she’s been eating but she’s been doing really well for us and her scoring ratio has been really on point.

“It’s crucial for her and her confidence to get back in the line-up and scoring goals.”
