Arsenal have announced that Danny Welbeck has undergone surgery on the knee that has sidelined him since April and will now be missing from action for a ‘period of months’.

In what is unbelievably frustrating news, the club have, once again, seemingly led the fans on a merry dance with the updates given regarding the player.

Just prior to the game at Newcastle it was claimed that Welbz would be back after the international break, which was clearly not even close to being a possibility, and it is this constant deception/or incompetence that irks fans the most.

With the window now closed, the decision to not bring in another striker looks even more insane.

A statement on the Arsenal website said “Danny Welbeck has undergone surgery on his left knee after being unable to sufficiently step up his rehabilitation work.

“The striker has been working throughout the summer to recover from the injury sustained at the end of April.

“It had been hoped he would avoid surgery but after increasing his training workload, the injury to his cartilage did not respond as well as hoped and the decision was taken last week for him to undergo surgery by a leading specialist in the field.

“Danny is now expected to be out for a period of months and everyone at Arsenal wishes him well.”

Beyond frustrating.
