The transfer window might be closed but that doesn’t stop the gossip and after watching Anthony Martial move for a whole lotta monies, Nabil Fekir is thinking he might like to get in on in the action.

Back in January the Lyon frontman was heavily linked with a move to both Manchester City and Arsenal and his father spoke out about the rumours, denying that his son would go to the oil-rich City, preferring, instead, that he moved to Arsenal.

Fekir Snr. said “They [Lyon] pushed for him to sign for City. But I told them if he goes to City and finds himself on the bench, it doesn’t interest me, and the kid is not interested either.

“He loves to play, he does not like to be replaced. And they pushed to sign him for City, that’s why he preferred to stop with them.

“Nabil would like to finish 1st or 2nd and play Champions League football with Lyon. If he leaves, it’ll be for Arsenal. It’s the only club that can enable him to progress, with Arsene Wenger.

“He will not go to Manchester City to sit on the bench.”

The player, however, has different plans it seems and looks like he could be laying the groundwork for a move to the red half of Manchester in the near future.

“I played with Anthony, he is a really good player although it was really a lot to pay,” Fekir told the press.

“We all know that there are clubs that can pay like that to put young talent under contract.

“[You ask] If I would follow him to Manchester United? Why not!

“We are talking about one of those teams that everyone dreams of, but for now there is nothing and I think I just have to have a good season with Lyon, then we’ll see.”

The 22-year-old has been with Lyon since 2011, has four fulls caps for France and can play as an attacking midfielder or striker.

Given Danny Welbeck’s injury status and the fact that Fekir is French and an attacking midfielder, it’s surprising Arsene Wenger didn’t move for him this summer.

Maybe he’s not quite unknown enough for Arsene’s liking.
