Results weren’t all great for Arsenal’s loanees on Tuesday night as they played in various League Cup fixtures.

Arsenal have a high number of players on loan this season; Chuba Akpom, Isaac Hayden (both Hull City), Carl Jenkinson (West Ham United) and Jon Toral (Birmingham City) were all in League Cup action on Tuesday. Gedion Zelalem featured for Rangers in the Scottish League Cup.

Chuba Akpom & Isaac Hayden

Hull City upset a strong Swansea City side at the KC Stadium, beating the Premier League side 1-0 to reach the fourth round. England youth internationals Akpom and Hayden both started, with the former playing the full 90 minutes up front and the latter starting in midfield and being subbed off with the hosts 1-0 up in the 85th minute.

Arsenal youth graduate Kyle Bartley played for the Swans.

Carl Jenkinson

The right-back played the full 120 minutes as West Ham eventually lost to Leicester City, who the Gunners face on Saturday.

Jenkinson performed well but couldn’t prevent Andy King from netting the winner deep into extra-time.

Jon Toral

The west Midlands derby between Aston Villa and Birmingham City left Jon Toral disappointed, with the Blues knocked out by their bitter rivals.

Toral was subbed on as a response to Rudy Gestede’s goal to give Villa the lead and  couldn’t help Birmingham despite having over 25 minutes on the pitch.

Gedion Zelalem

The teenager has impressed during his time at Rangers, and did so again despite being on the losing side.

With Rangers already 3-0 down away to Livingston, Zelalem provided the assist for James Tavernier’s goal after the hour mark.

It was nothing but a consolation, as Rangers went on to lose 3-1.
