Arsenal loanee Dan Crowley is impressing at Barnsley, and helped the Tykes to a win in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night.

The teenager is on loan with the League One side and starred last week, scoring as they almost knocked Premier League club Everton out of the League Cup.

That wasn’t to be but the Yorkshire club were more successful against Scunthorpe United in a less glamorous tie less than a week later.

Crowley, an 18 year-old midfielder, didn’t have a hand in either goal in the 2-1 win but his ability to drive with the ball still reportedly caused Scunthorpe some problems as he looked to build on an impressive start during his loan season at Barnsley.

The youngster was subbed off in the 87th minute with Barnsley 2-0 up, only for the game to end 2-1. I won’t say that was down to the Arsenal man being withdrawn, but make of that what you will.

Congratulations to Dan and Barnsley for making it through to the next round, who knows, maybe a trip to Wembley awaits…
