Liverpool’s Emre Can has been called up to the German national side ahead of the next round of international fixtures and is hoping to learn from Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

After a lively start to the season, Can, 21, received the call from Joachim Loew, making the step up from the u21s.

With 13 points from their first six games in Group D, Germany will be hopeful of collecting maximum points against Poland on Friday and Scotland on Tuesday in the 2016 qualifiers, but whether Can gets to see any game time remains to be seen.

“I know what my role is in the German national team and have no problem with it,” Can told SporX.

“I am playing alongside top quality players like Schweinsteiger, Neuer, Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller.

“I can learn so much from these players.”

Can, like Ozil, is one of three players in the German side with Turkish heritage.

Mesut Ozil, meanwhile, looks like he could feature for the Germans despite missing out on Arsenal’s last game against Newcastle with a knee injury.

He is also targeting silverware with the Gunners this season and you can read more about that here as well as the possibility of him playing for his country at the Olympics.
