Manchester City’s blistering start to the season has seen most people give up a title chase before we even hit September.

The Citizens, who last won the league in 2014, have regrouped after a poor season and scored 11 goals while conceding none in their opening four games of the Premier League season. The additions of Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling will only enhance the firepower already provided by David Silva and Sergio Agüero, but nothing is finished just yet.

That’s the opinion of Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany. The Belgian defender has started all four of the club’s games so far this season but is sure City will have title rivals. With 34 games to go anything can happen, and Kompany is well aware of it.

“I’m trying generally not to care (about Chelsea’s start),” the Manchester City defender said as he heads off for international duty. “I’m focused on ourselves. Teams like Chelsea, Arsenal…the big teams will always come back so it’s a matter of time.”

When City won the title in 2012 they looked to have it wrapped up and looked to have thrown it away on a number of occasions before finally clinching it on the final day of the season.

They have already taken three points off Chelsea this season, who have won just one of the opening four fixtures, and Arsenal are already five points adrift but Kompany isn’t showing any signs of complacency. To be completely honest that’s a bit of a shame, as some complacency from Manchester City may just be what Arsenal need to get into the title race this year.
