Chelsea forward Diego Costa thinks a game against Arsenal is the perfect tonic for his team’s terrible run of form.

A 4-0 victory against Maribor in midweek must have lifted the mood at Cobham, but Chelsea’s Premier League form remains bleak.

Last season’s champions have won just one of their opening five games in the league and lost three times – as many as they lost throughout the whole of the last campaign. It may be the perfect time for Arsenal to play their rivals, though Diego Costa believes the game is actually coming at a perfect time for Chelsea.

“There’s nothing better than a game against Arsenal to win and fix this situation,” the striker, who bagged his second goal of the season on Wednesday night, said. He has struggled for form early on in the campaign after a strong first season but is still hopeful that a win would give Chelsea a huge boost.

“If we win then we’ll take a step forward in terms of confidence and points; we know about the impotance of the game.

“We have to remain calm. We have enough quality to fix the situation.”

With Chelsea’s current form poor and Arsenal’s 1-0 Community Shield win fresh in the memory the Gunners will also feel this is a perfect time to play their rivals.

Either way, you just know that if one side wins everyone will claim it was the perfect timing for them.
