Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will undergo surgery and faces three months out.

There have been rumours that he will undergo surgery after failing to recover from a fractured fibula as hoped, and the club confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that the midfielder will have an operation.

After four injury plagued seasons, Wilshere completed a full pre-season over the course of the summer. No Arsenal player played more pre-season games than the England international, but he suffered an injury the day before the Community Shield clash against Chelsea.

Originally expected to keep him out for days, the injury has left him sidelined for weeks and he now won’t be seen again until around Christmas.

The club have said the decision has been made swiftly after scans revealed he was making a slower recovery than expected. The midfielder will undergo surgery in London this week to have a small metal plate inserted, and faces around three months out.

Everyone at Daily Cannon is sad to see the talented midfielder suffer another setback and wishes him a speedy recovery.
