Despite the controversy that surrounded the day thanks to Diego Costa, Petr Cech has thanked the Chelsea fans who give him a warm reception.
It was the keeper’s first return to Stamford Bridge since signing for Arsenal this summer and it was bound to be a surreal day for the Czech Republic international.
Other than the controversy on the pitch, it was probably nice to return after spending 11 years of his professional career in south London.
The Chelsea fans appear to recognise what the player did for their club while there and the respect is entirely mutual.
