Arsenal can win the Premier League title, according to goalkeeper Petr Čech.

Speaking to American journalist Grant Wahl, the summer signing said the squad is strong enough and has everything to compete for the Premier League.

During his 11 years at Chelsea, Čech was part of a squad that won the Premier League on four occasions – he knows what it takes to become the champions of England

“We have players with experience, players with the motivation to win trophies, and young players who are very hungry,” Čech said.

“This team has a really good balance … and if we keep progressing in our game we have a good chance to challenge for the title.”

The players at the club have enjoyed two consecutive FA Cup wins but there is a feeling they are capable of more. Those wins at Wembley, the taste of success and the glint of silverware, must have made the squad hungry for more celebrations, and for grander ones.

Disappointments, like the one against Olympiacos on Tuesday night, hit hard but the players need to respond quickly and strongly.

This Sunday Arsenal face Manchester United, in a game that could see the Gunners head to the top of the Premier League table. Then fans and the media would have to step back and think about it; despite recent performances in Europe, is this Arsenal team actually good enough?

Petr Čech thinks so.
