Over the summer, Santi Cazorla was heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal, something we believed to be absolute rubbish. So, it’s always nice to be proven right.

Speaking to the press, the tiny magician has confirmed that he had absolutely no desire to leave Arsenal, is very happy at the club and that it was all just press nonsense.

Hands up if you’re surprised?

Yeah, we aren’t either.

“I never said I wanted to return to Spain. Those things just came from the press,” Santi said.

“I don’t understand why they publish that story because I have always been happy at the club. I feel very valued here and the club valued me even more with a new contract. I never considered leaving Arsenal.”

Playing the best football of his career, Santi is loving life in his new role at the base of the midfield where he gets to pull the strings and generally look amazing.

There’s no doubt that parts of the media will continue linking a number of players with moves away from the club but for the first time in a many years we don’t have to fear our best players looking to go elsewhere for more money or trophies.

There is a real sense that they know what they have here at Arsenal and want to do everything they can to win together as a team.

It’s such a great feeling.
