In Arsenal’s apparent pursuit of a new striker, we’ve managed to stumble upon Boca Junior’s  Jonathan Calleri, if reports are to be believed.

The 21-year-old has featured for the Argentinian club 48 times, scoring 18 goals and apparently we’re in poll position to get the youngster’s signature in January.

After it emerged that Danny Welbeck’s injury woes were set to continue, it became apparent that maybe we should go about trying to find another striker to temporarily replace him. However, as the transfer window came to a close, it soon became clear that we wouldn’t be signing anyone and, if we were going to, we’d have to sit patiently until the winter.

However, by this time, Welbeck could potentially be ready to join the squad again and therefore, signing another striker might not be necessary.

The period between now and the January transfer window will probably be a trial period for Walcott to see if he’s capable of playing as a striker consistently. Then, we’ll have a better idea of whether we have to dip into the market or not.
