Arsenal are pledging to donate money from ticket sales to offer more help to Syrian refugees.

In Thursday’s press conference, Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger confirmed that the Gunners are going to donate £1 from every ticket for Saturday’s game against Stoke City to help victims of the Syrian crisis.

The Gunners are already connected to Save the Children, who are the official worldwide charity of the club, and have done a lot of work and fundraising to help children in refugee camps in Syria and Iraq.

Over the course of the last few years, Arsenal have raised almost £400,000 for Save the Children, and will continue to offer support. This week, UEFA announced that every club in the Champions League and Europa League have agreed to donate €1 from every ticket sold in the competition group stages in September, which is expected to raise a total of £2.18m.

Football has the incredible ability to unite people and, as an incredibly lucrative game, it owes the people who support it around the world. As a club, Arsenal brings millions of people together and it is brilliant to see the club not shirking their responsibility as a leading figure in society.
