Arsene Wenger expects Jack Wilshere to return from injury one week after the international break.

The midfielder has been out since he picked up a hairline fracture in his ankle in training with it being initially reported that he would only be out for ‘days’ (this misdiagnosis business never gets old, Arsenal, please keep it up).

The injury, which obviously turned out to be worse than first feared in a manner all-too familiar at the club, has seen Jack miss all of the season to date and will also keep him out of the upcoming internationals, not a bad thing in itself.

Speaking to the press, Arsene Wenger revealed that he expects Jack to return after Danny Welbeck who should be back in contention from the knee injury he picked up 17 weeks ago that was only supposed to keep him out for three weeks.

“Danny Welbeck is progressing well,” Wenger said.

“He should be available, if all goes well, after the international break. Jack Wilshere is just behind Welbeck, maybe one week after the international break he will certainly come back into full training.”
