Arsenal started the Premier League season without England midfielder Jack Wilshere on Sunday, but could return sooner than originally expected according to Daily Express.

Wilshere suffered a hairline fracture to his left fibula just before the FA Community Shield defeat of Chelsea and initial reports suggested he could be out for months.

Arsène Wenger has since confirmed the midfielder’s injury, but insisted the situation is not as severe as those reports had suggested. Now the midfielder could return in September, though the international break is still likely to come too early for him.

According to the report Wilshere has been allowed to go on holiday to get some rest and time to recover. He can’t do anything else anyway with the injury, and rest and relaxation is the best way to get over the issue.

On Wednesday it was confirmed that fellow midfielder Tomas Rosicky could miss the next two months. With 11 players out on loan the midfield could start to look thin very soon, so it will come as a relief if Wilshere can return as soon as possible.

Nobody will know how soon Wilshere can play until he trains, which he is set to do soon. He’ll arrive back in England within the next 24 hours, but Arsenal will not rush the midfielder, who has already missed significant parts of the previous four seasons.
