Over 25 years after David Seaman’s debut at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger praised the goalkeeper on his ‘special talent‘.

Seaman spent 13 years at Arsenal and has deservedly gone down as one of the best goalkeepers in our history. The Englishman kept 164 clean sheets in 394 appearances with the Gunners, as well as 29 cleans sheets in 63 appearances for England.

Wenger believes the goalkeeper was truly special and admitted that he had his eyes on him even before he joined Arsenal, and that he was genuinely a really lovely bloke.

“First of all David was a talent I knew and a special talent I admired before I arrived here,” the boss said. “I didn’t know the man but when I discovered the man I found out he was a special guy as well.”

Wenger continued, “He’s a guy who is friendly, helpful and you can rely on him. When it was backs to the wall he was very strong. He did stand up when he made a mistake and he said sorry to everybody. He was a special goalkeeper and I discovered a special man as well.”

Adding, “When I arrived here I was lucky to find these kind of guys in my team who were not only special players but they also had a special quality on the human front.”
