Arsene Wenger has denied reports that Mathieu Flamini was told to find a new club before the transfer window closed.

It had been reported by ESPN that the midfielder was instructed to find a new home, however speaking at his press conference on Friday, the boss denied that this was true.

“Yes I expect him to be here because I spoke to him,” said Wenger.

“At the moment he is not involved but he told me he has no intention to leave.

“He will be involved at some stage. He works very hard and it is his intention to stay.”

Flamini, as we all know, has fallen well down the pecking order at the club but with the players at the club all being made of glass, it seems as if Wenger wants to keep the pointy shouty one around, for cover if nothing else.

Flamini has been heavily linked with a move to Galatasaray all summer.
