Arsene Wenger believes Alexis Sanchez is playing the best football he’s ever played with Arsenal but admitted his finishing needs work.

The Chilean scored 25 goals last season – a fantastic amount for a player joining not only a new club but a new league. The 26-year-old will likely be targeting an even higher tally this season, which would be unreal if achieved.

Wenger is one of Alexis’s biggest fans and spoke to the Arsenal website recently, praising the forward’s immense ability.

“He is already better than when he arrived,” Wenger said. “In his final finishing there is room for improvement, in his final ball he is already much better, his vision is quite good and incisive.”

The boss continued, “He has that desire to go forward and provoke. He is a guy who provokes chaos in the defences because he has a go at you.

“He does not go across, he goes straight. His desire to go forward, to provoke opponents, to run at people, creates danger.”

Adding, “I have had players like that but he has the style. What Sanchez has is that in the first two yards he is lightning quick. He has that explosive attitude linked with his spirit. That makes him even more spectacular.”

Alexis has gotten off to a tentative start so far this season due to his late participation in the Copa America tournament.

He was brought on briefly during our 2-0 loss to West Ham in our opening match and played during our win at Crystal Palace, but during both, especially the first, he didn’t seem anywhere near ready to play.

Now, the boss has assured us that he’s fully fit to face Liverpool on Monday.
