Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is set to miss two months due to surgery required on his knee.

Find the latest update on Rosicky’s injury here, including a quote from Arsène Wenger.

Rosicky has been out of action since June, when he suffered an injury on international duty, and won’t be returning anytime soon according to his agent.

Last season was a frustrating one for the midfielder, who was barely used in the opening half of the season before going on to make 24 appearances for the Gunners. Even then, he started just five Premier League games and wasn’t in the squad for the FA Cup Final.

Nonetheless, Rosicky’s contract was extended by a further year. The midfielder is 35 in October but is still incredibly useful to Arsène Wenger’s side.

The Czech Republic captain has been linked with a move back to the club where he started his international career, but that is now even more unlikely. His agent said the surgery was conducted on 4th August and is likely to keep him out for four to eight weeks.

Even when Tomas returns he will have to work on his fitness having missed the entire pre-season schedule. He’s unlikely to be at Arsenal much longer, and it would be a shame to see him leave having barely played in recent years. Let’s hope, at the very least, he makes a full recovery to play in the European Championships next summer.
