Reports have emerged that Gedion Zelalem could be going out on loan to Rangers in the Scottish Championship.

The talented 18-year-old has already scored a stunner of a goal in the one game he’s featured in for the u21s this season and the flair he has is undeniable.

The debate begins, however, when you begin to consider how young he is and the physicality of the Scottish Championship. No one has ever doubted the midfielder’s ability but he’s small and, with all due respect, looks slightly fragile.

Although many could argue that sending him to such a league would help ‘beef him up’ a bit and help him develop his strength, he could also find it too intimidating.

In my opinion, I think he’s young enough that he could benefit from developing at Arsenal for another season before going out on loan. Obviously I’m not the boss and don’t know Zelalem’s capabilities as well as the manager, but sending him to such a physical league at such a young age can only go one of two ways.
