Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is backing the Gunners to rediscover their form and launch a title bid this season.

Manchester City are already five points clear of the Gunners after just three Premier League fixtures. However, last season’s champions Chelsea are with Arsenal on just four points and Ramsey believes his club can still recover.

“So many times you have seen even the bigger teams struggle in a couple of games then everyone is back into it,” said Ramsey. “It is always disappointing to start with a loss but we’ve responded well.

The midfielder has been frustrated by his position, playing from the right-hand side of midfield rather than in the middle where he likes to drive with and without the ball.

He had a goal chalked off against Liverpool when the offside flag wrongly went up, but the 24 year-old Welshman doesn’t think the 0-0 draw was too much to get worried about.

“It’s important not to lose the big games and get something out of it if we can’t win which we have managed to do.

“Hopefully we can beat Newcastle and come back and go on a bit of a run.”

After that Newcastle game on Saturday Ramsey will be off to represent his country, having been named in the Welsh squad as they look to seal a historic qualification to the European Championships in France next summer.

Until then, though, it’s Arsenal action he has to concern himself with.
