Remember when Aaron Ramsey didn’t score so frequently?

I know it was a while back, but there was a lot of nonsense about famous people dying every time he netted for Arsenal. Osama Bin Laden, Steve Jobs, Whitney Houston and Colonel Gaddafi all perished shortly after a Ramsey goal, and he has finally had his say on it.

“The most ridiculous rumour I’ve heard is that people die after I score,” said Ramsey, who was also linked with Barcelona this summer. I wish that rumour was a more crazy one, because we need him. “There have been loads of occasions where I’ve scored and somebody has died.”

Then again, maybe the secret services need him even more than we do at Arsenal, as the midfielder jokingly claimed to have helped the world as a whole.

“It’s just a crazy rumour. Although I took out some baddies!”

Fair to say that Osama Bin Laden and Colonel Gaddafi were ‘baddies’, but I think the Welshman is being a bit harsh on Whitney Houston.

Anyway, it’s lucky the fluke coincidence came to an end, but a shame Ramsey didn’t catch José Mourinho before his magic ran out.

With Arsène Wenger’s midfield looking misbalanced against West Ham last weekend Aaron Ramsey could lose his place for Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace, with Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all possibly favoured in midfield.
