Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has told Arsenal Player that the team needs a ‘perfect’ match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Gunners will be looking to make up for last weekend’s loss to West Ham with a much more convincing performance and, most importantly, our first three points of the season.

Monreal was probably one of the better players at Emirates Stadium in the disappointing loss against the Hammers and is now demanding a better performance from everyone involved at Selhurst Park.

“We have played many times against them away from home and we have won each time but we know they are a difficult team,” the Spanish defender said.

Arsenal have indeed one at Palace for two season in a row, since the Eagles were promoted to the Premier League. Last season Monreal impressively kept Wilfried Zaha quiet for the majority of the fixture after the winger had started the game well.

“They have really good players who are physically hard. We know it will be a difficult game but after losing our first match, we must win.

“We have to play like we know how. If every player gives 100 percent then I think we will have many options to win the game.”

No doubt Arsenal have better individuals than Palace, but it is about applying ourselves on the day. The atmosphere can get loud south of the river, and the stadium has become something of a fortress. Since promotion in 2013 Palace have won games against Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham at Selhurst Park.

“Obviously we have to make a perfect game from the first minute to the last,” Monreal insisted. “If we do that, I think we will win.”
