Like many of the Arsenal youngsters who have gone out on loan this summer, Jon Toral has had an impressive start to the season.

Playing for Championship side Birmingham City, the former Barcelona man has scored in both of his appearances for the Blues so far as they have got off to an unbeaten start in the Championship.

Next up Birmingham face Derby County on Friday evening but the midfielder could miss out after boss Gary Rowett spoke about him feeling some tightness with his hamstring on Thursday.

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Although he trained the 20 year-old only made one substitute appearance for Arsenal during pre-season, coming off the bench against Singapore Select XI during the Barclays Asia Trophy.

Since the move to Birmingham he scored a hat-trick in an U21 friendly against Tottenham Hotspur before playing over 70 minutes in the opening two games of the season.

Toral’s Birmingham debut saw him head home the second goal in the first game of the season as they beat Reading. A week later he started and scored the opener against Burnley in a game which eventually ended 1-1.

There’s no doubt the midfielder knows where the goal is and is set to have an exciting season with the Midlands club.
