Arsenal’s Yaya Sanogo is having a time to forget on loan at Ajax.

First of all the Dutch giants were knocked out of the Champions League, and the French striker was then harshly criticised by Ronald de Boer, head of the Ajax Academy.

The striker has spent some of his early time in the Dutch capital playing for the Ajax second team, and has now been left out of two matchday squads entirely.

Sanogo came off the bench in the opening two Eredivisie fixtures this season but was told to stay with the second team on Thursday night as the senior side played a Europa League play-off game against FK Jablonec.

Things got even worse for the French striker over the weekend, as he didn’t even make the bench in Ajax’s 2-0 defeat of NEC Nijmegen. Ajax have won all three of their opening domestic fixtures, scoring eight goals in the process, but this treatment seems harsh.

Arkadiusz Milik has started the season in good form and scored again on Sunday but it must be hugely frustrating for both Sanogo and Arsenal that the striker didn’t even make the bench when there was no other alternative – Frank de Boer didn’t name a striker amongst his substitutes.

Hopefully things change quickly and Sanogo has the chance to make an impression in the Netherlands.
