Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has tipped Alexis Sánchez to win PFA Player of the Year this season as Arsenal chase their first Premier League title since 2004.

Back then Henry was truly the king of Highbury, but nobody since the Frenchman in 1999 has arrived and instantly been such a hit with the Arsenal faithful.

Henry scored 26 goals in his first Arsenal season before going on to score a record 228 for the club. Alexis’ first year in London saw him find the back of the net on 25 occasions, the most a player has scored in their first year at the club since Henry 15 years previously.

Now the Sky pundit thinks Alexis could emulate him again by winning PFA Player of the Year.

“I think the player of the season will be Alexis Sanchez,” Henry said. “I’m just saying it because he has already had an amazing season. If Arsenal want to win the league he has to have that type of season, and I think he can.”

Henry himself won the award twice, but had to wait until his fourth year in England to be awarded with it the first time.

Top scoring for the club, as well as creating the most chances, in your first season isn’t bad. Alexis will miss the start of the new campaign after Copa América duty but when he returns he should be well rested and raring to go.
