Arsenal won their first three points of the season against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, and Olivier Giroud is looking forward to the next game.

The French striker scored the opening goal at Selhurst Park, but attention now turns to next Monday, when the Gunners welcome Liverpool to Emirates Stadium.

“I felt really good physically in the game,” Giroud told Sky Sports after the Gunners had sealed the win.

“It’s nice for the future and we need to keep it up for next Monday against Liverpool.”

Giroud scored in both fixtures against the Merseyside club in the 2014/15 season and will hope to continue his good form against them, hopefully with the whole team replicating the performance which saw Arsenal win 4-1 the last time the sides met.

A win against Liverpool will underline Arsenal’s title credentials after the setback suffered during the opening weekend. The loss to West Ham saw Arsenal’s aspirations of winning the league widely questioned, but Giroud insists the squad is ready to cope with the pressure and attention that comes with a title challenge. That includes the added scrutiny that comes with high expectations.

“You get criticised when you lose, especially at home, we said we want more, we want to win the league,” the striker insisted.

“When you say that you have to face the expectations.

“It was a bad performance but even if we lost last week the most important thing in football is to bounce back and keep your faith in your game and we succeeded to do that today.”

We most certainly did, and it stands us in good stead ahead of Liverpool’s visit.
